I am planning a trip to europe this fall, probably for october (yes i know i’m planning way in advance, but that’s just how excited i am)! i will be travelling with my boyfriend and we really just want to visit london and paris. i have been to paris before, in 1999 for two weeks. i loved loved loved it (who knew it was possible to fall in love with a city??) and can’t wait to go back. our main reason for going is that i have a friend who will be studying in bordeaux. is bordeaux worth visiting? what exactly is there to see/do in bordeaux? i can’t seem to find much information in travel books. at most we would only have one to two days to spend there. it will be possible for my friend to visit us in paris, so it’s not required that we go to bordeaux to see her.
We are planning on flying in and out of london, as round trip prices for october tend to be cheaper in and out of london rather than paris. plus, that will give us an excuse to take the eurostar to paris. we’re only planning one to two days for london, as paris is really the focus of our trip. do you have any recommendations for hotels in london? we don’t exactly want to go the hostel route, so a cheap, budget hotel would be fine. i know next to nothing about london so i also have no idea what locations would be good. we will only have time to hit up the most essential sight-seeing places, so i would like to be central to those (without paying too much $, of course).
Thanks for your help! and i would also appreciate any general tips you have on travel in london and the eurostar.
I was in London earlier this year and I had a great time.
If you plan on being there a while buy a week-long Tube pass, I forgot how much they cost, but a subway pass is cheaper than riding in taxi’s. You can use it an unlimmited number of times for a whole week. BUT DON’T LOSE IT!
what is there to see in Bordeaux…Well not much I guess, except for wineyards :D LOL. It looks like a lovely city though :) And if you’re under 26 the train fares will cost you less as you’re still seen as “young” :)
