Hello All! I’m going to be going to Germany, Leipzig area,(and Europe) for the first time next summer. I am going for work(I’m a nanny and taking one of the kids to vist family) and will be able to travel a bit while I’m there. Now I have a full six weeks(June 2 – July 19) and I’m not sure what I can do or see. So if anyone could give me some idea’s of things that I should see. Also how much would it be for me to go to Italy by train while there? I tried looking on the eurail website but they don’t have just a place to place pass or would it be cheaper to fly on one of the smaller airlines?
Thanks for the help!
FLY! I took the train between Berlin and Rome and it takes ages (8 hours to the southern border, then an overnight train) and it’s not particularly comfortable. Also it’s definitely cheaper to fly.

In six weeks you can do loads – get an Interail pass (or Eurail if you’re American) and go anywhere you want! Including Italy on the train, of course ;) But I’d recommend Berlin, Cologne and Munich in Germany, plus Amsterdam is lovely, Czech Republic and Poland would be easily accessible to you… your options are endless.
hi. if you want to go to italia from germany, i think you should take the plane. the train ide would be a long, unless you want to to go the northern parts of italy like milan. but dont leave italy without seeing rome and venice!
What kindof things are you into? Berlin would definitely be worth a visit. If you like hiking go to the Harz Mountains and visit Quedlinburg a lovely mediaval town. You should also check out the Spreewald for scenery
Yes, go to Berlin and Prague to start with anyway. You can check the times of most European trains at Deutsche Bahn: reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
