my boyfriend & i are in the process of planning a trip to western europe for dec. 14-jan. 14. we’ll be spending a huge chunk of time traveling because we plan on hitting about 12 different cities (5 countries). we’ll be in amsterdam, den haag, rotterdam, antwerp, brussels, paris (christmas time with my lover), figueres (just for the dali museum), barcelona (maybe), madrid, dublin, amesbury (for stonehenge), london, and then back to amsterdam. i am under 26 and he is over. since i’ve never been to europe before, i’ve got a few questions:
a) are hostels closed during christmas and new years? i was on www.hostelworld.com and couldn’t make any online reservations during that time. if so, any recommendations for cheap hotels (and hostels, for that matter?).
b) how are race relations in europe? we are an interracial couple (i’m black, he’s white), and i heard of some unsettling happenings in russia, so i was just wondering how the rest of the world felt.
c) what’s the best way to get from madrid to dublin? i’m thinking flying, but i’m not totally sure. and then from dublin to w. amesbury, and THEN london back to amsterdam?
