Cheapest way from Leeds/Manchester to Edinburgh?

i’m an american living in north england, and i have my sister coming to visit from the states in mid/late februrary, and i want to take her to edinburgh. trains are ridiculously expensive here, but i was wondering if anyone knew the cheapest way to get to edinburgh from, say, huddersfield/leeds area? train? coach? even flying?

thanks for any advice. i know about the low-fare airlines as well.
